How do you enable nudging after patching msn live with Mess Patch?

I patched Msn Live with Mess Patch, being an immature idiot the main reason i wanted to do this is to nudge the hell out of one of my mates. But when I open a conversation window, the icon for changing text, emoticons and nudging are gone. If i want to send a nudge or add a smiley or anything I have to use the dropdown menus at the top of the screen.
